What is parouyr sevak?

Parouyr Sevak (1887-1971) was an Armenian poet, writer, and literary critic. He is considered one of the most prominent figures in Armenian literature of the 20th century.

Sevak was born in Nukhi, Russian Empire (now in Georgia) and studied at the University of Geneva, where he received his PhD in philology. He later worked as a teacher and journalist in Armenia.

Sevak's poetry is characterized by its emotional intensity, lyrical quality, and themes of love, nature, and the human condition. He was also known for his critical essays on literature and language.

In addition to his poetry, Sevak wrote essays, plays, and translations of works from French and Russian into Armenian. He was a key figure in the literary and cultural renaissance in Armenia in the early 20th century.

Tragically, Parouyr Sevak was killed in 1971 during the Armenian earthquake while trying to rescue his students from a collapsing building. He is remembered as a national hero and a beloved figure in Armenian literature.
